Abstract

The Holocaust of May 8, 1945, continues to shape political and literary (novelistic) discourse despite more than half a century having passed since its occurrence. This is what we can discern through Francis Zamboni's novel The Butcher of Guelma, when analyzing its chronotopes (historical, political, social, and existential). It represents a reading of the present political reality through the lens of the colonial past and its impact on the enactment of the law of February23, 2005 This study aims to shed light on the genocide of Algerians and the double standards in defining the term "Holocaust" .
