Abstract

This study was aimed at revealing the role of occupational security and safety programmes in preventing workers from accidents in the interest of the Directorate of Leadership at Annaba Port. We relied on the descriptive curriculum to fit the study's objectives. We used the data collection technique of the questionnaire as a key tool. (23) Items applied to a sample estimated at 35 individuals in a comprehensive survey method. After collecting, compiling and analysing information based on appropriate statistical methods (descriptive statistics), the study's findings concluded that: Occupational safety and security programmes applied in the field of study contribute to the prevention of workers' occupational accidents through (sensitization processes and training programmes provided) while professional culture has not contributed to this.

Therefore, risk education is part of the training system adopted in industrial institutions and training centers so that individuals learn the seriousness of what they will face in the field of work and learn how to protect themselves later. Occupational culture contributes to reducing occupational accidents. Because it is concerned with developing degrees of awareness, professional thinking and methods of solving problems, its goal is awareness and professional self-development. It expresses all that the worker carries in his thinking, values and principles about the preventive security system in force in his institution, and the degree of his awareness of the risks and the attempt to spread that awareness in the professional environment. It also works to modify and change many wrong behaviors at work.
