Social change and its role in changing values within society
Keywords:
social change, values, societyAbstract
Modern societies are witnessing numerous transformations and changes at the political, economic, and social levels. The nature of these changes varies depending on social, economic, and cultural factors and conditions within each society. Social change is considered one of the most important changes as it targets the prevailing value system in society. Social change is a social process that contributes to reshaping and reconstructing values in line with the new orientations of society. Our study aims to uncover the role of social change in influencing the prevailing values in society through the use of a descriptive desk research methodology. A desk survey was conducted on previous studies related to this topic. The study reveals that social change is an inevitable vital phenomenon that occurs in all societies, indicating a series of transformations that take place in the societal system, including values. These values are relatively stable, meaning that they change and evolve based on the social and ethical changes within the society.
Thus, social change can impact the entire social system, leading to changes in practices, beliefs, social structures, and adopted values within the society. It is important to monitor all stages of this change and its potential effects in order to mitigate any negative impacts that may affect the prevailing value system within the society.
