Water diplomacy as an approach to managing the Rhine River

Abstract

This research study is concerned with explaining the concept of water diplomacy as an approach to managing shared waters between countries, such as the waters of international rivers, in view of the importance of the latter and the multiplicity of its modern uses, and in light of the problems faced by international rivers, and to avoid conflicts between riparian river countries and in order to activate water diplomacy, some diplomatic mechanisms were created. Legal and development of legal and institutional frameworks for international water cooperation between riparian countries, The importance of research appears in knowing the effectiveness of the water diplomacy approach in managing international rivers . The Rhine River is a pioneering model in activating water diplomacy. This is demonstrated through the efforts of international cooperation and collective work among the countries riparian to the Rhine River exerted in this regard, and this is through the implementation of a number of joint projects between the countries of the Rhine River, which led to achieving rapprochement and successful cooperation between the countries of the Rhine Basin. It has reached the point of integration between them .
