Abstract

Teaching competencies are a key aspect of teacher preparation and have therefore received considerable attention in all educational systems. Their success and effectiveness in helping teachers perform the teaching process efficiently and effectively have been proven. The concept of teaching competency represents an attempt to adopt multiple standards and avoid focusing on a single aspect of education. Some educational literature has revealed that a teacher cannot lead the educational process, develop their subject matter and teaching methods to keep pace with the rapid advancements in knowledge, and fulfill their assigned tasks unless they possess a set of teaching competencies. Without these competencies, their role can be limited to simply imparting information. Therefore, teachers are required to keep up with change and development continuously to achieve the principle of lifelong learning, as their professional growth is linked to their academic and professional development. Competency is a series of observable actions and activities; that is, it is a set of specific, qualitative behaviors. It is also an internal mental capacity of a subjective and personal nature.
