The reality of using VAR technology in the Professional Football Association Championship A field study of the first Algerian professional league from the point of view of the referees

Abstract

Our study aimed to examine the reality of using the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology in the Professional Football League Championship from the perspective of referees. We adopted the descriptive approach, and the research sample was intentionally selected, consisting of 40 referees who officiate league matches. A questionnaire was distributed to the referees, and the findings revealed that the presence of VAR technology in the Professional Football League Championship represents a positive step toward improving the level of refereeing and ensuring fairness in matches.
