Abstract

Algeria has witnessed rapid development in the establishment of kindergartens since the late 20th century, particularly in cities and urban areas. Despite the significant attention the state pays to nurseries (kindergartens), we in our society are well aware that we are still far from achieving those noble and comprehensive educational goals. This may be understandable, as the progress and harmony achieved by Western countries in kindergarten educational programs stemmed from efforts dating back to the Enlightenment in Europe (1650-1800) and the emergence of new concepts for researching human nature, scientific knowledge, and its relationship to human structure (Jean-Jacques Rousseau). However, it is crucial in our country today to advance these institutions (kindergartens) to a point where they can reach a level of development in all their aspects. Perhaps the major challenge facing kindergartens in our country today is that their role is often limited to simply taking care of the child for a few hours or to accommodate the parents' work schedules. The noble mission should be expanded to encompass much more, including a focus on recreational and sports activities within the kindergarten playgrounds. What is noticeable in our country is the lack of sufficient attention given to this aspect in terms of allocating spaces and areas for playing and practicing recreational sports activities.
