Problematic of language planning under the standardization of Tamazight dialectical varieties in Algeria - the case of characters’ choice-.

Abstract :

Tamazight has long suffered from its transparency to the point where many Linguists have doubted the existence of Tamazight language throughout history, because there is no literary or scientific production written in this "language", despite the discovery of Tiffinagh characters in North Africa thousands of years ago. This is why those who work to institutionalize it as a selfstanding language want to standardization it, and this has resulted in a fierce battle, especially with regard to the choice of the character to be written, because this process related to language planning is not as technical as it seems, especially in Algeria, due to the ideological backgrounds of each party.
