tudents’ Anxiety and Aversion to Morphology in Arabic Schools in Sri Lanka: A Case Study of the Pethkalu Area”
Abstract
Morphology serves as the benchmark and standard for the Arabic sciences. Through it alone, one can understand the processes affecting speech, such as vowel weakening, substitution, and assimilation. It also enables the clarification of syntactic relationships within a sentence and the analysis of the internal structure of words.
In most Arabic schools in Sri Lanka, morphology is taught at the primary level using traditional methods. However, students of the Arabic language face difficulties in comprehending morphological rules and applying them in writing and speaking. As a result, many students exhibit anxiety and aversion toward the study of morphology.
