Access points in Europe: solution or dilemma?

Abstract

Illegal immigration has become one of the biggest challenges facing
countries at the present time, especially European countries, as they are the
preferred destination for irregular migrants. Therefore, in order to address what it
calls migration pressures, the European Union has established centers to sort
migrants arriving at the borders with the aim of distinguishing between asylum
seekers and migrants for economic reasons. However, the lived experience of the borders has revealed that this policy,
which seeks to achieve security for the benefit of countries, has negatively
affected the situation of migrants and has turned into hotbeds of insecurity,
leaving behind many violations of the basic rights and freedoms guaranteed by
international human rights charters and agreements.
