This study focuses on the role of maritime classification societies in ensuring vessel safety and protecting the marine environment within a complex international legal framework, particularly in the relationship between flag states and these societies through delegation contracts. The significance of this topic lies in the impact of classification societies on maintaining maritime safety standards and reducing environmental risks associated with maritime transport. The study also highlights the role of these societies in implementing international standards such as SOLAS and MARPOL, which contribute to ensuring vessel safety and reducing pollution. Our study aims to analyze the critical role played by classification societies in ensuring compliance with technical and operational standards, as well as identifying the challenges they face under international legal oversight. The study also seeks to provide solutions and recommendations that enhance the effectiveness of this role and improve the regulatory system to ensure more effective enforcement of environmental and maritime safety standards in alignment with recent developments in the maritime sector
