Abstract

Abstract The Peace and Security Council of the African Union was established pursuant to Article 05/02 of the Constitutive Act of the African Union as a permanent organ for conflict prevention, management, and resolution within the Union. The Protocol Establishing the Peace and Security Council of the African Union was adopted in Durban, South Africa, in 2002. The Council's objective is to promote peace, security, and stability in Africa in order to ensure the protection and preservation of the lives, property, and well-being of the African people and their environment, as well as to create conditions conducive to the achievement of sustainable development, based on the principle of the peaceful resolution of disputes and conflicts. The Darfur crisis is one of the most significant crises in Africa, in which the African Peace and Security Council has intervened to find solutions to the conflict.
