Abstract

People in primitive societies in the past resorted to exchanging their goods and possessions to obtain the commodities they needed in their daily lives. We would not be exaggerating if we said that almost all commercial transactions were limited to the barter system. The first form was used to meet needs and conduct commercial exchanges. This remained the case for a period of time until humans discovered the invention of coins. These coins served as an alternative means of meeting needs and conducting transactions, including buying and selling, and as a standard for measuring the value of things. This made life easier compared to what it had been before. With constant research and endeavor, humans arrived at methods and means that enabled them to develop and improve their commercial transactions more than ever before, such as checks, promissory notes, and bills of exchange, which are truly among the most important of these methods in the commercial field.
