Abstract

Women's sports have witnessed historical events marked by differing viewpoints, with some supporting and others opposing their establishment due to prevailing attitudes towards women in general. However, over time, the reality of women's participation in sports and its impact on their physical health has become clear, just as it does for men. The greatest evidence of this is what we see today: women participating in numerous sports at local and international levels, including in the Olympic Games, which were previously forbidden to them. They have achieved excellence and success. Therefore, this study aims to understand the role of cultural and social factors in women's sports participation in Algeria, examining media and societal traditions. To achieve this, the researcher used the descriptive method, deemed most suitable for the study. The sample consisted of a random sample of 350 female students from the university campus, using a questionnaire.
