Abstract

This study aimed to identify the role of sports commitment in developing some psychological skills (self-confidence, relaxation skills, mental visualization, coping with anxiety, concentration of attention, and motivation for athletic achievement) among young people, according to the variable of the type of sport (team sports and individual sports) and according to the variable of training age (number of years of sports practice). The study also aimed to know the extent of the relationship between sports commitment and psychological skills. In order to achieve the study objectives, we used the descriptive method with the comparative survey method, and the sample included 244 athletes from some western Algerian states.
