This study aimed to determine whether practical training plays a role in developing the teaching competencies of physical education and sports students, and finally, to ensure that the measurement instrument used possessed the necessary psychometric properties. The study sample consisted of (30) first-year Master's students at the Institute of Sciences and Techniques of Physical and Sports Activities at Mohamed Boudiaf University in M'sila. A questionnaire on teaching competencies was distributed to them, and the descriptive method was used. The results of the current study yielded several key findings, including: • Practical training plays a role in developing the lesson planning competence of physical education and sports students. • Practical training plays a role in developing the lesson implementation competence of physical education and sports students. • Practical training plays a role in developing the lesson evaluation competence of physical education and sports students. Therefore, in light of the results of the current study, its interpretations, and discussion, the researcher offers the following suggestions: • The necessity of paying greater attention to and focusing on practical training, and providing students with real-world experiences and actual practices of the educational process during their training period to prepare them well for their future careers. • Reconsidering the duration of practical training and allocating a larger share to it in student development, as it is a fundamental pillar that must be considered in student preparation programs. • Including the topic of teaching competencies as an independent module in teaching methods curricula. 243-220
