Abstract

The communication technologies that abound in our world today are not a product of chance, but rather the result of numerous stages and developments that humanity has witnessed since its existence on Earth. After relying on primitive methods of communication, and as relationships expanded and distances grew, tools emerged to facilitate the exchange of information, such as the telephone, radio, and television. With the increasing complexity of relationships, a new era dawned, bringing with it new communication technologies that compress time and space, effectively confining the entire world to a limited scope. This technology has impacted all fields and permeated all disciplines due to its numerous advantages. Among the fields that receive significant attention from a wide segment of the public is sports, which enjoys immense popularity and attracts most segments of society. Therefore, it became essential to explore the channels and media outlets through which information flows, facilitated by modern communication technologies, in order to reach sports fans at the right time and place. This led us to pose the following question: What is the role of communication technology in the globalization of sports media? To answer this question, this research is divided into the following sections: Section One: The Nature of Communication Technology; Section Two: Modern Communication Tools; Section Three: The Globalization of Sports Media
