Students' attitudes towards the teaching profession in the Department of Sports Management and Administration

Abstract

Attitudes play a significant role in determining an individual's behavior towards the coaching profession. These attitudes influence the social value of physical education and sports as an educational profession, including coaching. For this reason, this study was conducted in the university setting, focusing on students in the Department of Sports Management and Administration. The study addressed the relationship between attitudes and some of the factors that influence them, such as societal views, the social value of physical education teachers, and coaching, etc. The researcher formulated some hypotheses and attempted to prove and verify them using the descriptive scientific method through a survey study. The Zaki Youssef Attitudes Scale was applied to a sample of 95 students, and statistical analysis was performed. The researcher arrived at a number of important results and recommendations. Through this research, the researcher concluded that society, and by extension the family, plays a crucial role in shaping attitudes towards training as a future profession. The researcher was also able to identify the role that a physical education and sports teacher can play through comprehensive understanding and accurate knowledge of the stages of a training lesson. In the same context, the researcher found that the attitudes of male students in the Department of Sports Management and Administration are more positive than those of male students in their view of training as a future profession, or in their evaluation of the sports management and administration teacher. The researcher recommends using psychological tests in the entrance exams for departments and institutes of physical education and sports, and the Department of Sports Management and Administration, in addition to providing opportunities that allow for the development of positive attitudes.
