Abstract

Sports for the disabled is an integrated service system designed to identify and address problems from psychological, motor, and social perspectives. These services include mobility aids, individualized education programs, training, and instruction for people with special needs. The primary goal of sports for the disabled is to reconnect with people with special needs and help them integrate into society in a way that develops and enhances their psychological inclinations and mental and physical abilities. In this research, the researcher seeks to address visual impairment in detail and the types of sports activities suitable for it. Visual impairment results from a permanent or temporary malfunction affecting the eye, the optic nerve, or the area of the eye responsible for vision. There are many types of sports activities, but some activities can be practiced by blind individuals but not others, due to the type of visual impairment. We will mention the types of activities that are suitable for blind individuals and that must be practiced to develop physical and motor fitness in particular, and to work on developing their potential and abilities by developing their other senses to care for the general health of blind individuals. This leads to balanced growth and equips them with some moral and volitional qualities that contribute to a comprehensive upbringing, enabling them to face the daily life they will encounter in the future.
