Abstract

Football is considered one of the team sports that has achieved a level of fame unmatched by other sports. It has also gained great popularity in terms of participation and the rush to attend its matches in stadiums or halls. The modern demands of this sport have created the need to prepare players with high physical fitness, especially since modern football achievements are linked to accelerating defensive and offensive activities with a high level of strength, as well as improving the skill performance of players. The adoption of the total football style (comprehensive execution of tactical duties) has made players occupy more than one position on the team. For instance, we see defenders actively contributing to the attack and forwards falling back to defend their team's goal. Despite the high exertion required, a player must maintain their physical fitness throughout the match (90-120 minutes). Many countries excelling in football have focused on developing physical fitness, especially speed, which has always been a distinguishing factor between exceptional players and others. The importance of speed becomes particularly clear as a player ages, since performance decreases with reduced speed and mobility, which becomes evident in The role played by physical fitness in modern football, which is characterized by rapid acceleration under different playing conditions and according to renewed tactical plans, is significant. The advancement of athletic levels in the last decade of the twentieth century came as a result of proper planning based on advanced scientific foundations, along with the improvement of training methods, the development of tools, equipment, and stadiums, and the attention to preparing and qualifying coaches both scientifically and practically. This development has been accompanied by progress in playing strategies and techniques in both individual and team sports. In football training, there are numerous methods and approaches to bring athletes to a high level of performance, and this requires applying several training methods to enhance and improve the individual and collective abilities of players. Perhaps the most important of these methods is the repetitive training method, which has become one of the most widely used means in sports training, especially when it comes to improving or developing one or more elements of physical fitness. Thus, this type of training is considered one of the important and influential pillars in advancing performance levels.
