The microeconomic and macroeconomic factors of Algeria’s technological underperformance

Abstract

Emerging countries have joined the innovation economy, in contrary Algeria which has a technological backwardness preventing it’s towards the research income. This paper attempts to explain the causes of Algeria’s technological underperformance (the number of patents is insignificant; exports of high-tech products are almost non-existent …). Finally, research results have shown that Algeria’s underperformance is linked to micro-economic factors in relation to the company, the university; and macroeconomic factors that relate to the quality of institutions.
