The Current State of Microfinance at Al-Amal Bank in Yemen
Keywords:
Microfinance, Al-Amal Bank in YemenAbstract
We aim to highlight the status of microfinance at Al-Amal Microfinance Bank in Yemen, which has emerged as a leading model across the Arab region and beyond due to its essential services to a society heavily affected by conflict, poverty, and deprivation.
The study finds that the bank plays a pivotal role in supporting development by providing diverse and accessible financing products tailored to all social groups, especially vulnerable and low-income segments, coupled with training programs that enhance the success of beneficiaries’ activities. This approach has contributed to reducing poverty and stimulating economic and social development. Moreover, by promoting a culture of savings under the principle “the poor finance the poor,” the bank has strengthened its financial base and supported the expansion of its loan portfolio
