This research aims to study the importance of small enterprises and their contribution to achieving sustainable local development in Algeria. It seeks to clarify the role these institutions can play in revitalizing the local economy, especially in light of the challenges facing the economic and social environment. This can be achieved through microfinance as one of the mechanisms to promote the role of micro-enterprises, particularly in local communities, to mitigate shocks at the local level.
Our findings indicate that small enterprises still have a modest contribution compared to the experiences of other countries, primarily due to weak financing mechanisms and support systems. Through a study of the current situation, we found that there is only one official body (the National Agency for the Management of Microcredit, ANGEM). However, there is a promising future for microfinance inAlgeria .
