The reality of the tourism sector in developing the Iraqi economy

Abstract

Studies and research have shown the significant economic benefits that tourism brings to any country's economy. Investment has become a key tool for developing this sector, leading to the achievement of economic and social goals. One of the most important objectives is to foster tourism development in Iraq to accelerate progress toward development goals, create job opportunities to reduce unemployment and poverty, attract foreign currency, and encourage local investors to increase their investments in the tourism sector. Tourism investment contributes to increased economic activity across various sectors, including transportation. This sector can also develop and improve infrastructure, specifically service facilities, in areas encompassing tourist destinations throughout Iraq.
