A comparison between the books of Al-Amwal by Abu Ubayd al-Qasim ibn Sallam and Abu Ja`far Ahmad ibn Nasr al-Dawudi al-Maliki

This article aims to shed light on two significant works considered among the foundational texts of Islamic economics: Al-Amwal by Abu Ubaid al-Qasim bin Sallam and the work of Abu Jafar Ahmad bin Nasr al-Daudi. The study provides an introduction to both scholars, examines their respective works, and conducts a comparative analysis from both methodological and scientific perspectives. Furthermore, it highlights their contributions to establishing the building blocks of Islamic economics and Islamic financial transactions. One of the primary objectives of this research is to demonstrate the proactive role of Muslim scholars in codifying the principles of economics and the jurisprudential rulings regarding wealth. The study concludes with several important findings, most notably:
- The historical precedence of Muslim scholars in authoring works within the field of Islamic economics.
- The scholars' responsiveness to their contemporary contexts, demonstrating their ability to provide solutions to the various crises encountered by the Muslim community throughout history.
