The International Humanitarian Law between the Conceptual Framework and the Effectiveness of the I.C.C in Following up Violators of its Rules

Abstract

The International Humanitarian Law is a branch of public international law and has emerged as an alternative term for the law of war. This term gradually changed to the law of armed conflict. It has been used for a short period of time to be replaced by international humanitarian law. The definitions of this law have varied, but they have all agreed on the goal of protecting people suffering from the scourge of war. The implementation of the rules of international humanitarian law against its violators is still pending, after the establishment of the International Criminal Court which is a mechanism for implementing this law.
