Abstract
This study aims to highlight the critical and innovative efforts that were presented by descriptive Arab linguists in their reading of the ancient linguistic achievement. On the other hand, the work sought to examine these results and the extent of their effectiveness and scientific value, and to indicate whether they actually reach to be a substitute for what the linguists and grammarians have presented. It has been affirmed that despite the scientific value of the efforts of modernists, they did not arrive at presenting an alternative to replace the old linguistic theory.
