Abstract

This study looks at Algeria's 2020 constitutional amendment. It tries to understand the legal processes and political motivations behind the amendment, especially since it happened at a sensitive time after the 2019 popular movement. It also tries to analyze the amendment's content and updates, and determine how much it strengthened Algeria's democratic process, using content analysis and descriptive approaches The 2020 constitutional amendment was initiated by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune immediately after assuming power, as it was one of his pledges during his 2019 presidential campaign, this represented a break with the previous era, laid the foundations for building a new Algeria, and strengthened its democratic process.
