The sudden loss of a relative who used to live among us in normal behavior, without complaints of an illness, is undoubtedly a painful moment experienced by the family and sometimes not even explained by the doctor. The phenomenon of sudden death always leaves a puzzling question, how and why ? It seemed strange to us, in our practice, to note the lesions revealed by autopsy in the hearts of the dead, which did not prompt any prior medical consultation in them.
Autopsies at the Forensic Medicine Department allowed us to diagnose the causes of sudden deaths and attach most of them to hereditary hypertrophic heart disease that lives with the young man without realizing it. The hypertrophy of the heart muscle is one of the most important causes of sudden death in young people with a rate of more than 53%. According to our study, the majority of carriers of this hidden disease have Genetic character They are young people under the age of 40, who show signs of health, but their hearts are weak and cannot bear stress.
This disease should be detected early because it is simply easy to treat in a timely manner. A person carrying the disease may be motivated by his youth to practice sports, and whose file is accepted by Rima without any prior in-depth heart examination, as he perishes on the first runway of the stadium.
The discovery of hereditary hypertrophic heart disease in a person, dead or alive, requires a set of preventive measures for family members, as we call genetic advice.
We have found answers to our question at first, how and why, and we have cleared the dust on the reality of insomnia for all of us, and we have played our professional role as forensic doctors and university students in enlightening our brothers in revealing one of the main causes of sudden death among young people.
