The importance of this research lies in the relationship between muscle pain indicators and the performance of some basic basketball skills for students, as a step towards reducing the manifestations of pain in the targeted area and ultimately improving the level of skill performance. From this perspective, the researcher pursued this study. The problem of the research is that the researcher is a faculty member at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, and her interest in basketball lectures and interest led her to notice some difficulties facing first-year students when performing basketball skills. Although there are few studies related to muscle pain, to the best of the researcher's knowledge, she decided to embark on this experiment by studying the relationship between muscle pain and its relationship to the performance of some basic basketball skills for students. The research aimed to identify the degree of muscle pain in the targeted muscles, to identify the level of performance of some basic basketball skills for students, and to identify the relationship between pain indicators and the performance of some basic basketball skills for students.
As for the research hypotheses, there is a correlation between pain indicators and the performance of some basic basketball skills for students. Regarding the research methodology and field procedures, the researcher used the descriptive approach using the correlational method to solve the research problem. The research community was defined as (160) first-year students from the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Kufa. The researcher randomly selected the research sample, numbering (30) students from Section (B), and ensured homogeneity of the research community in terms of age, height, and body mass to avoid variables. The data were then processed using appropriate statistical methods.
As for the most important conclusions and recommendations, the most important conclusions were as follows:
The results showed a significant correlation between muscle pain indicators in the shoulder girdle muscles and basic basketball skills among the research sample. The results confirmed that the appearance of pain symptoms in the shoulder girdle muscles negatively impacts the performance level of the skills studied.
The most important recommendations are the need to develop effective strategies for treating and alleviating pain, which is an urgent necessity to ensure improved performance.
