Abstract

Television broadcasting technology has recently witnessed tremendous progress, allowing every household to enjoy watching all matches held both domestically and internationally. Sports have transcended geographical boundaries, and the number of television viewers has increased by tens of millions. It can be argued that television broadcasting rights can play a significant role in financing Algerian professional teams. The importance of this is illustrated by the following: "The television broadcasting rights for the French Professional Football League increased sixfold between 1998 and 2005, generating substantial revenue. In the 2007-2008 French Professional Football League tender, television entered the media and communications competition, with Canal+ (440 million euros) and Orange (228 million euros) sharing the broadcasting rights for French professional football. This leads us to the following question: Do Algerian television broadcasting rights play a role in financing Algerian professional football?"
