Abstract

Psychological factors play a role in influencing competitive performance, and among the most important of these factors is competitive anxiety, which results from situational and environmental factors and simultaneously responds to the tendency to perceive competitive situations as either threatening or facilitating to performance. It is expected that the state and trait of competitive anxiety may stem from certain personality characteristics. Therefore, we wanted to consider the interrelated roles of personal and situational factors in assessing the impact of competitive anxiety on predicting competitive performance. Despite the abundance of research conducted, there remains a pressing need to continue research on anxiety in sports in order to improve and develop both the competitive anxiety test and the competitive anxiety status indices, thereby increasing the confidence and accuracy in the body of knowledge related to competitive anxiety research.
