Abstract

Success or excellence in any sporting field is usually the result of sound planning, hard work, and commitment to achieving goals. Sports training is no exception to this rule. Successful athletes train individually and collectively for long hours in their respective activities, following pre-prepared programs designed for long-term training over several years. The preparation and development of athletes takes into account various aspects and factors—biological, kinetic, psychological, etc.—all of which contribute to determining the quality of their athletic performance. The focus on developing athletic performance and achieving peak levels begins with incorporating these aspects into training and development programs and utilizing them scientifically and correctly. The goal is to achieve high-level athletic accomplishment, highlighting and developing the qualities that help these athletes excel in their chosen field. Today, many researchers and football experts emphasize the crucial role of psychological factors in achieving high-level athletic performance across various competitions and sporting events. This is based on the necessity of certain psychological capabilities in football, which drive players to utilize their physical, technical, and motor skills to achieve peak athletic performance. In light of this, this study aims to highlight the role of certain personality traits in relation to the collective athletic achievement of football players in competitions, using sports aggression and sports confidence as case studies.
