Abstract

The current study aimed to identify the factors that motivate high school female students to participate in school sports activities. The study sample consisted of 145 second-year high school students, randomly selected from two high schools in the city of M'sila. To achieve the study's objectives, the researchers used a questionnaire on the factors affecting participation in school sports activities, prepared by Eid Mohamed Eid Kana'an (2003). Based on data analysis, the study reached the following results: the factors encouraging high school female students to participate in school sports activities, in descending order, are related to friends, family, school, media, and available facilities. The study provided a set of recommendations, including: - Raising awareness about the importance of sports activities and their various aspects for women within general education. - Involving the media to help form positive attitudes toward participating in school sports activities, especially for female students. - Providing the necessary tools and facilities that support the practice of sports activities through creating a reciprocal relationship Between neighboring schools in terms of allowing the use of playgrounds and sports equipment. - The need to provide enjoyable and diverse sports games that meet the students' needs and desires. - Working on providing incentives for students and inviting parents and teachers to attend the matches.
