Abstract

The Holy Quran is the primary source of Islamic legislation and the reference for Muslims in extracting and deducing legal rulings. Given the eloquence and clarity of the Quranic text, it was necessary to have different readings of this miraculous text between interpretation and explanation. Because words are a vessel for conveying ideas, their user may be misunderstood if he uses them incorrectly, and his idea may die, no matter how valuable it is, due to the poor choice of the appropriate word to express it. From this standpoint, it was necessary to define the concept of interpretation in general and to clarify the difference between it and explanation among Muslims, so that we may be aware of the correct meaning of the word, and then try to extract the legitimacy of interpretation and the places where interpretation is obligatory among them, in order to remove ambiguity from the concept of interpretation and to clarify the difference between it and explanation.
