Abstract

Rational dialogue is an organized mental process that seeks to highlight a particular truth and achieve consensus about it. It is fundamentally based on arguments of all kinds, whether demonstrative, inferential, rhetorical, or otherwise. Rational dialogue expresses a cultural activity between two or more parties in which everything that is open to discussion is exchanged without harming the individual. Thus, dialogue is always argument and inference, as both the speaker and the listener in the circle of dialogue are inferring, seeking to prove that they are right. Argumentation may also be associated with all types of dialogue, from debate and discussion to other situations that mimic subjectivity, thus entering the circle of sophistry, while the real purpose is to reach certainty without fanaticism or dogmatism. Thus, discussion comes as a form of intellectual communication and human interaction to convey the truths and enrich human standards
