Hajj Ali Abdelkader is considered one of the most prominent Algerians fighting against colonialism after World War I. As one of the first immigrants to France at the beginning of the twentieth century, He was one of the few Algerians who raised the banner of fighting colonialism from within the French organizations themselves, especially the French Communist Party. He was active in writing in several communist newspapers and his journalistic activity contributed to introducing French society to the suffering of the peoples of the colonies, He played a pioneering role in establishing the North African Star, of which he was appointed its first president, but the struggle of Hajj Ali Abdelkader suffered a major setback after a dispute emerged between the French Communist Party and the activists of the Star over independence demands.
