French military and academic writings have dealt with all aspects related to the resistance of Emir Abdul Qadir, including the spiritual aspect and the relationships that linked the Qadiriyya order to other Sufi orders. An example of this is the relationship of discord that the latter experienced with the Tijaniya order, as French pens devoted themselves to exploiting this. The conflict serves the interests of the colonial administration and its settlement project in Algeria. Among those who wrote about the dispute that took place between the Qadiriyya and Tijaniya orders, Saint Arnaud and the spy Leon Roche, their writing carried great prejudice against Emir Abdelkader and his resistance, and aimed to enable the pro-French orders to take control, out of a desire to kill the spirit of resistance in the souls of the Algerians.
