The demographic status of the city of Oran and its area during the Zayani era: A statistical study of the population through sources

Abstract

This research paper aims to open broad and new horizons for research in the field of historical demography in the Central Maghreb, at a time when research in this field remains difficult for researchers and academics interested in the history of the region due to the absence of documents archivals related to statistics in addition to the lack of statistical data in historical sources, which does not allow an accurate picture of the population to be given, despite the importance of this field in interpreting many economic and social transformations...that is why our study came to establish preliminary and relative estimates of the population in this city of Oran and its area, and we reached results, the most important of which are: the proportionality of the statistical numbers obtained related to the population of the region, as we arrived at, The geographical area studied was characterized by a demographic weight that contributed to the revitalization of economic life.
