Abstract

Among the most hurdles facing researchers in contemporary Algerian History, is the scarcity of archival documents, especially local ones; whether at the Algerian National archive center or at the level of Districts and Municipalities; which in turn affects its scientific production value in the field of historical writing. In light of this difficulty of research in the central archive and its given benefits in an accurate and comprehensive manner, one  must search for other sources and archives in order to contribute to writing the general and specific history of Algeria for each region. Therefore, this study will highlight researching the archives of public institutions in the wilaya of Biskra, and representing, especially the archives inherited from the colonial era in order to demonstrate its importance and the extent of its contribution to the study of the region’s history, particularly during the period of the French colonialism.
