Abstract

This research paper seeks to identify the prostitute woman or what is known as the daughters of prostitution and women practicing prostitution and whoredom in the city of Algiers during the Ottoman era, by highlighting their sexual activity as a profession that some women practiced as an official job sponsored by the mézouard, in order to entertain the bachelors of the Janissary army and other social classes they were permitted to enjoy the state's prostitutes. Accordingly, the problem of this paper comes to investigate the social and economic lives of prostitutes, their illegal sexual practices, and the reasons for their deviation.
