Abstract

This article attempts to study methods and aspects of one of the colonial propaganda means for French colonial projects of 1848 in Algeria, through an Arabic-language newspaper : Al-Mubacher. Referred to it as a necessary step for colony «progress», the colonial administration tried firstly to make propaganda for settlement, and in second, for having faced the rejection of immigrants by Algerians who spread among them that those immigrants were "expelled", "exiled" and even considered as "residues" of French society. Although the newspaper is a tool of white propaganda, the analysis of its content shows that it mastered "counter-propaganda" and adopted other methods not dissimilar to contemporary ones, all of which helped give the impression that Algerians don’t oppose colonizers existence, and support "coexistence" principle, this idea have aborted because Algerians understood this method of soothing propaganda.
