In this research, I dealt with the subject of the French fort (Bastion) in the city of El Kala, which was established during the Ottoman period, by the French for the exploitation and trade of coral, and the fort has acquired particular importance because of the great role it played in European commercial transactions. We aim through this study to highlight the historical and archaeological value of the French fort and its role in the economic movement.The fort created an active economic movement between the 15th and 17th centuries AD. The town of El Kala became famous for its fort and became a destination for merchants, the development of the fishing and coral industry in Algeria thanks to the European presence, which contributed to some extent to creating opportunities for job for the Algerians who realized the importance of this marriage. even if the profit was only a small percentage locally.
