The problem of conspiracy and liquidation during the Algerian revolution, a study through archival documents 1959

Abstract

The French special services sought to use all means in its counter-war against the Algerian liberation revolution, by using spying and psychological war to break through the, and through recruiting spies with the assistance of the Office of Studies and Communication.  Then, it intensified its efforts for the penetration of the ranks of the army and the Liberation Front, and infiltration among the people and the planting of suspicious elements working to stir confusion and suspicion in the ranks of the revolution. In addition, they imposed the logic of isolation in order to expose the trend of sedition and liquidation in the ranks of the Liberation Army and to destroy morale such as defaming the leaders of the revolution abroad. They highlighted the mistakes committed within the Liberation Army to force them to surrender and to instigate a conspiracy among them to create a supportive movement to stop the war. Where the French interests managed to change the conflict from a French-Algerian to an Algerian-Algerian conflict, and it stands out well as a parallel war with the Algerian revolution in directing a dangerous policy that included poisoning and manipulating the Liberation Front and Army.
