This article examines the militant life of "Ramdan Djaiz" (1942–2025), a native of Ouled Brahem who took part in the Algerian War of Independence. It explores the early development of his revolutionary consciousness, shaped by his rural upbringing, traditional religious education, and direct experience with colonial discrimination.
The study highlights the diverse roles Djaiz undertook, from Quranic instruction to administrative and field responsibilities within the ALN. It argues for the value of local life histories in understanding the revolution and safeguarding national memory—especially amid the decline of oral history traditions.
