Abstract

Emir Abdelkader al-Jazairi was one of the most prominent historical figures who embodied human values, particularly during his stay in the Levant. His humanitarian role was clearly demonstrated during the 1860 events in Damascus, when he courageously protected thousands of Christians from violence and looting, sheltered the threatened in his home, and used his influence to stop the attacks. His actions were not politically motivated but were rooted in his religious principles that upheld the sanctity of human life and interfaith coexistence. These stances constituted a unique model of religious tolerance and human solidarity, earning him international recognition beyond political and military leadership.
