The night of November 1, 1954 in Algeria from fact to event: Zone 3 (Kabylia) as a model

Abstract

This study begins with the following question: how does any fact turn into a historical event? Is it because of its exclusive nature or by virtue of its decisive consequences? After having briefly exposed in the introduction the main theoretical approaches in the matter, the article goes on to verify them empirically through the facts happened in Algeria during the night of November 1, 1954, in particular by focusing in zone 3 (Kabylia) for both methodological and objective considerations.
