Aspects of Moroccan support for the Algerian popular resistance 1832-1924 a social and military study
Keywords:
colonial surprise, Algerian immigrants, Moroccan supportAbstract
This historical study focuses on the Moroccan support for the popular Algerian resistance during the colonial period. The French occupation in Algeria led to the creation of several popular resistance groups in order to confront the French occupier who took control of the Algerian lands. This occupation had an impact on neighbouring countries, notably Morocco, which showed a position of rejection of the occupation, by providing precious help to the Algerians who immigrated there to escape colonial oppression. Morocco therefore hosted a large number of immigrants who settled in many Moroccan regions. It also provided numerous aids to the Algerian resistance led by brave sons of Algeria ended up in a final submission in 1912. Hence, several revolutions arose to resist the French protectorate in Morocco.
