Econometric Study on the Impact of Algerian Migrant Remittances on Foreign Exchange Reserves During the Period (2000–2023)
Keywords:
Migrant Remittances, Foreign Exchange Reserve, oil export revenue, ARDLAbstract
This study aimed to examine the extent to which remittances from Algerian migrants affect the size of foreign exchange reserves, based on annual data for the period 2000–2023. To achieve this objective, the ARDL model was employed.
The findings reveal that migrant remittances have a weak impact on foreign exchange reserves in the short run, and the relationship between them is negative, unlike oil export revenues, which showed a positive and significant effect on foreign exchange reserves. Furthermore, the study confirms the existence of a long-run relationship among the variables under investigation.
