Abstract

Scientific research is one of the main pillars in the higher education sector in its various specializations, including the sciences of physical education and sports in its various departments, as it works to solve problems in order to reach solutions that help improve the reality of sports according to a scientific methodology away from improvisation and randomness. The study aimed to identify the reality of scientific research in the colleges and departments of physical education and sports in Yemeni universities and the difficulties they face, in order to propose appropriate solutions that promote scientific research in this field. The study problem was represented in a set of difficulties that stood in the way for academics to publish their scientific research, especially in light of the lack of (specialized) periodicals in the faculties and departments of physical education and sports in Yemeni universities, and the majority resorted to publishing in foreign journals and the consequent great cost and delay in Publication dates. The study relied on the descriptive and analytical method, whereby the researcher monitored and analyzed some studies conducted on Yemeni and Arab universities to identify the reality of scientific research and publish it in these universities, as well as the difficulties it faces The study tool consisted in the questionnaire that was applied to a sample of Yemeni university academics in the specialty according to the following numbers: (10 master's students, 20 assistant professors, 20 associate professors) The results of the study concluded that there are no legislations from the Higher Education Law and its executive regulations that oblige the faculty to publish scientific research other than the research required for promotion, and the absence of a specialized refereed journal in the field of physical education sciences in Yemeni governmental and private universities, which made external publication more From internal publishing, in addition to the high publishing cost, stopping salaries and not taking into account the financial settlement of promotions, matters contributed to the decline in scientific publishing. The study recommended providing the necessary support for scientific research in the sciences of physical education and sports (especially applied) from the Adolescent, Youth and Sports Welfare Fund. In addition to creating legislations from the Higher Education Law and its executive regulations, the faculty members are required to publish scientific research other than those required for promotion, coupled with monetary compensation for each research and reducing the cost of publication. And the establishment of a specialized refereed magazine in the field of physical education science in Yemeni governmental universities. And the approval of the Journal of Youth and Sports Affairs (court) of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, through an agreement for scientific partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education or one of the Yemeni universities that contains a department or college of physical education and sports
